Getting Started with Email
Students
Summary: All students have an email account on the OIT Mailbox Services, based on your UCInetID. Use this address for official communication with the University.

How to check your UCI
email:
Check your email in one of the following ways.
- Webmail
Check your email via a Web browser. Simply login with your UCInetID and password. Webmail is a very basic service, but is convenient if checking mail from a remote location. - Configure your email software.
Choose your favorite email software (Thunderbird, Windows Mail, Mac Mail, etc.) and configure it to check your UCI email. - iPhone/iPod Touch E-mail Autoconfiguration Browse to this link from your iPhone/iPod Touch for easy one touch automatic set up of your UCI email for your mobile device
- Forward my email to another account. You may opt to forward your UCI email to a personal account. However, be aware that it is best to use your @uci.edu address when communicating with your instructors, TAs, and for other University business.
Shell Access
You also have UNIX Shell access to your account. You will need to use SSH (Secure Telnet) to connect.
