Strange Terminal Behavior
Sometimes, particularly when you first log in,
your terminal may act strangely. For example, each letter may be typed
twice, or [RETURN] may not cause a line feed or a return to the left
margin. This might well be caused by your having designated the wrong
terminal type while logging in. The
easiest way to remedy the situation is to log
out and log back in again. If your terminal is so messed up that
you cannot even type a "logout", press the [LINE FEED] key, type
"reset", and press [LINE FEED] again (don't worry if you can see
"nothing" on the terminal while you are doing this). If you don't have
a [LINE FEED] key on your terminal, type [CTRL-J].
