The MH Profile

The first time you use MH a file called '.mh_profile' will be created in your account. This file contains a list of options for MH programs that you can change to meet your needs. The most basic '.mh_profile' will have only the line: Path: Mail which specifies the name of the directory which contains your mail files. To make a change to your profile, just edit the file and add a line for the applicable program. For example, if you would like to use "emacs" instead of "prompter" as your initial editor when composing mail messages, add this line to your '.mh_profile': comp: -editor emacs or, if you would like "repl" to ask you whether to send a reply to each person in the To: field, put repl: -query or repl: -query -nocc me in your profile. The latter line will always leave you off the Cc: list when you "repl" to a message.

When you reply to a message, "repl" will, by default, send a copy of your reply to everyone who got the original message - including the original sender, you, and all the people listed in the To: and Cc: fields. Quite often your reply will be of interest only to the original sender and the other people will be mildly annoyed to receive it.
