Network Commands
Most Unix computers here at UCI are connected to UCInet, which in turn
is part of CERFnet and the global Internet. Each computer has its
official name (also known as the "fully-qualified domain name") and a
nickname. For example, "orion" is the nickname for "orion.oac.uci.edu".
Generally, the nickname is the first part of the official name. You
will need to know the official name of computers you use in order to
access them successfully over the network.
