UCI Office 365 Mobile Configurations

Note: If you need help setting up your email on a computer (Mac or Windows), view these instructions instead.

iOS

Set up UCI Office 365 on an Apple iOS device

Follow the instructions below to help you set up your UCI Office 365 email, calendar, contacts and task management account on iOS. Note: If you are a Health Sciences Exchange user, do not use these instructions. Instead, please contact the HS Help Desk at 714-456-3333 for support.

  1. Under the Settings app, select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  2. Select the Add Account option on the screen.
  3. Select Exchange from the Add Account screen.
  4. Enter your Email address in this format: UCInetID@ad.uci.edu
  5. Enter your Exchange Password in the Password field and then tap Next. (Note: this password may be different than your UCInetID password. You can test your UCInetID and password at outlook.com/uci.edu if you are uncertain). If you’ve forgotten the password, call the OIT HD..
  6. Edit the Description field (this is optional) and then tap Next in the upper-right corner.
  7. iOS will verify your settings, and if they are correct you will quickly see little checkmarks appear next to your settings and the screen will change.*
  8. On the resulting Exchange screen, set the following:
    • Mail — Set it to “ON”
    • Contacts — Set it to “ON”
    • Calendars — Set it to “ON”
    • Reminders — Set it to “ON”
    • Notes — Set it to “ON”
  9. Tap on the Next button to complete your setup.

*Note: If you’ve entered the wrong username and/or password in step 7, you will be taken to a manual setup screen instead. We recommend you simply tap Cancel in the upper-left corner and start over at step 1 above.

Note: You may need to wait a few minutes after you set up your account before you can send or receive e-mail.

Android

Set up UCI Office 365 on an Android device

Follow the instructions below to help you set up your UCI Office 365 email, calendar, contacts and task management account on Android. Note: If you are a Health Sciences Exchange user, do not use these instructions. Instead, please contact the HS Help Desk at 714-456-3333 for support.

Note — Remote Wiping of Phone Data: Some phones “may” offer an option to allow the user to activate a “device administrator.” This option includes the capability on the part of the administrator to Remotely Erase all the Data on the Phone. Even though this feature may be available on your phone, OIT does NOT have a policy in place to permit Exchange administrators the ability to remote wipe the data on a device, and we do not honor these requests at this time. The security warning is simply a result of features Microsoft ActiveSync and the phone manufacturer attempt to support.

Some Android users may see slightly different menu options when configuring their devices. The settings below have been tested on Google Nexus & Samsung devices.

  1. Tap the Settings app on the phone.
  2. Tap Accounts.
  3. Swipe down and tap + Add Account.
  4. Tap Exchange (Some users may see it listed as Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync).
  5. Enter your Email address in the format UCInetID@ad.uci.edu and then tap Next.
  6. Enter your Exchange Password in the Password field and then tap Next. (Note: this password may be different than your UCInetID password. You can test your UCInetID and password at outlook.com/uci.edu if you are uncertain). If you’ve forgotten the password, call the OIT HD.
  7. Some Android devices will autoconfigure at this point; however, Google Nexus devices need to enter the Server information manually, so swipe down and edit the Server field to read outlook.office365.com and then tap Next.
  8. Tap OK in the Remote Security Administration window that appears.
  9. Tap Next to create the account.
  10. Tap Activate at the bottom of the Activate Device Administrator window.
  11. Edit the Account Name field (this is optional) and then tap Next to complete setup.

Windows Phone

Set up UCI Office 365 on a Windows Phone or mobile device

  1. On Start, swipe left to the App list, select Settings, and then select email + accounts.
  2. Select add an account > Outlook.
  3. Enter your Exchange email address (“UCInetID@ad.uci.edu“) and password, and then select Sign in. Windows Phone will try to set up your email account automatically. If setup completes successfully, skip to step 8.
  4. If you see the message “Check your information and try again. You may have mistyped your password.”, verify that you entered the correct email address and password. At this stage, you don’t need to specify any values for User name and Domain. Select Sign in. If setup completes successfully, skip to step 8.
  5. If your email account can’t be set up automatically, you’ll see the message, “We couldn’t find your settings”. Select Advanced. You’ll need to enter the following information:
    • E-mail address This is your Exchange email address (“UCInetID@ad.uci.edu“)
    • Password This is the password for your Exchange account.
    • User name This is also your Exchange email address (“UCInetID@ad.uci.edu“)
    • Domain Leave this blank.
    • Server For UCI Office 365 email, use outlook.office365.com for your server name.
  6. Select the Server requires encrypted (SSL) connection box.
  7. Select Sign in.
  8. Select OK if Exchange ActiveSync asks you to enforce policies or set a password.

Blackberry

Set up UCI Office 365 on a Blackberry 10 device

  1. Navigate to Settings menu.
  2. Select Accounts from the list.
  3. Tap on Add Account on the bottom of the screen.
  4. Tap on Advanced on the bottom of the screen.
  5. Select Exchange ActiveSync option.
  6. Type in your Exchange email address (“UCInetID@ad.uci.edu“) for the username.
  7. Use the same information (“UCInetID@ad.uci.edu“) for the email address.
  8. For the Server Address type in outlook.office365.com.
  9. Tap on Finish

 

Outlook for iOS

Set up Microsoft Outlook on an iOS device

  1. Download Outlook here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/microsoft-outlook-email-calendar/id951937596?mt=8
  2. After Outlook has downloaded, press Get Started.
  3. Depending on your personal preference, press No Thanks or Notify Me.
  4. Type your full UCI email address (e.g. “peteranteater@uci.edu“) and press Add Account.
  5. Outlook will redirect you to UCI Office 365 login screen and populate your full UCI email address in the user ID text field.  Remove the “@uci.edu” component from the user ID text field, and type in your UCI Exchange password.  You will not be able to log in if the full email address is in the user ID text field.
  6. Press Sign in.
  7.  Press Maybe Later.
  8.  Swipe through the tutorial screens until you see your Inbox.
