eGoldFax is a cloud-based fax system that allows users to send and receive faxes from any email client. This service is free for UCI faculty and staff with existing fax machines with a campus number (949-824-xxxx). This service is not available for medical center numbers (714-456-xxxx).

Note: There is a separate cost to setup and use a fax machine if your department doesn't already have one. Please submit a Telephone Service Request and our Telecom team will be in touch.

I have eGoldFax. How do I use it?

Sending a fax is as easy as sending an email message! Please download this handy PDF that will walk you through the steps.

Do I qualify for eGoldFax service?

To qualify for the eGoldFax service, the below criteria must be met:

  • Users must be from a non-Health Science (HS) domain. If you are from HS with a 714-456-xxxx number, you do not qualify for this service.
  • Users must have a UCI email address to send eFaxes.
  • Users must have an existing physical fax line only if they wish to port it to an eFax number.
  • Users must report what type of information they expect to be faxed out to them. eGoldFax is able to handle P3, P4, and HIPAA data.

How to request for the eGoldFax service?

To request for the eGoldFax service, send an email to with the subject "eGoldFax service request." The OIT Help Desk will assign the ticket to Desktop Support for configuration.

Can a standalone eFax number be requested?

Yes, it is not necessary to have an existing physical fax line to use the eFax service. To request for a standalone eFax number, send an email to with the subject "eGoldFax standalone number request."

Can I assign more than one email address to an eFax number?


How can I add or remove users from using the service?

Send an email to with the subject "eGoldFax help." The OIT Help Desk will assign the ticket to Desktop Support for them to remove or add users.
