How to Setup UCI Gmail on your Computers & Mobile Devices

When following the steps below, remember that your username is your entire address, not just your UCInetID. In addition, your UCI Gmail password may be different than your UCInetID password (unless you changed them to match). If you've forgotten your UCI Gmail password (or your UCInetID password), you can reset them using our self-service portal.

The desktop email clients listed below (Apple Mail, Thunderbird, and Outlook) may vary in how they attempt to autoconfigure the port and security settings. If you've followed the instructions below and yet you're still unable to send or receive an email, check your account settings in the email client and confirm the following information was properly configured:

  • Incoming email (IMAP) server:
    • Port: 993
    • Security: SSL enabled
    • Username:
    • Password: UCI Gmail password
  • Outgoing email (SMTP) server:
    • Port: 465  (or 587) - either should work
    • Security: SSL enabled (some clients may list it as TLS or STARTLS)
    • Username:
    • Password: UCI Gmail password

If you're still having trouble, feel free to open a ticket.
