Introduction

Google Workspace now uses UCI's Single Sign-On (SSO) service for authentication. Whenever you want to sign in to your account, make sure you enter your username in the correct format: UCInetID@uci.edu and then select Next. You will be directed to UCI's login page where you can log in with your UCInetID and password.

I want to use UCI Google Workspace and UCI Gmail

Exceptions: If you work for an OIT DSS-supported department, you cannot switch to Gmail and must continue to use Microsoft 365. You are welcome to use the other Google services (Drive, Docs, etc).

  1. Go to UCI Create Your Google Apps Account and log in with your UCInetID & password.
  2. On the "Create your Google Apps Account" page, select the Submit button to activate your account.
  3. Your account will be activated. You can now log in to your UCI Google Workspace account.

Changing Where Your Email is Delivered

If you are a student or you work for a department that allows you to change where your email is delivered (mail delivery point - mdp), you can set up Gmail as your delivery point.

I want to use UCI Google Workspace, but NOT UCI Gmail

Exceptions: Select College of Health Sciences employees can now use UCI Google Workspace but cannot use UCI Gmail. Contact the HS Help Desk at (714) 456-3333 to learn how to get an account.

  1. Go to UCI Create Your Google Apps Account and log in with your UCInetID & password.
  2. On the "Create your Google Apps Account" page, select the Submit button to activate your account.
  3. Your account has been successfully activated. You can now log in to your UCI Google Workspace account.

COHS staff and students: please remember that your account does not come with UCI Gmail. You must continue to use the HS mail service. Do not attempt to log in to Gmail as you will receive an error. You must log in to Google Drive.

Migrating Old Email

Before migrating email from your old email account to UCI Gmail, please consult with your local IT support or help desk. If you are migrating email from a personal Gmail account to UCI Gmail, see our FAQ for specific information.
