The Office of Information Technology is offering a great opportunity for a student to learn leadership skills and apply them to help expand OIT’s Project Management Office (PMO) with modern tools, standards, and templates. Under general supervision and working within OIT’s PMO, the Student Assistant performs responsibilities at an operational level to provide administrative and technical services to the PMO.

Summary of Job Duties and Requirements:

  • Knowledge of common tools: Enter and manipulate data and information using standard office tools such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint (or equivalent).
  • Collaboration: Understand basic principles of working in a collaborative development and administrative environment.
  • Willingness to learn: Will work with senior OIT professionals and be willing to learn new planning, technical, and office skills.
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking, and analysis: Must be comfortable asking questions in order to validate that the data collected is reasonable and makes sense. (Training will be provided to help in this area.)
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Organized: Hours are highly flexible and we will work around class schedules, but the Student Assistant will be expected to come to work on-time and perform assigned tasks in a reasonable amount of time.

Responsibilities include:

  • Via phone and in person, collect status information on OIT projects being managed by the PMO, then enter or update that information and prepare status reports for distribution.
  • Assisting with the preparation of reports, presentations, workshops, and other means of communication and training.
  • Assist with configuration and programming of the ServiceNow ITSM Project and Work Management System. Training on the ServiceNow framework and JavaScript will be provided.
  • Assist with creating templates that promote the project management discipline at the enterprise level.
  • Other general office tasks related to the PMO and OIT.
