Central Plant Shutdown on Friday, June 22, 2018 to Sunday, June 24, 2018

Purpose: Planned maintenance

Services Affected:

Central Plant will be conducting a regularly scheduled high temperature hot water shutdown the weekend of Friday, June 22, 2018 through Sunday, June 24, 2018.
We will be shutting down after 5:00p.m. on Friday, June 22, 2018 and normal service will be restored no later than Sunday, June 24, 2018 at 11:00 p.m.

The purpose of this shutdown is to conduct regularly scheduled maintenance of equipment on the high temperature hot water system and the cogeneration plant. The systems that will be affected during the shutdown will include; building heat, industrial & domestic hot water, and steam generation for cage washers and autoclaves.

The campus power and chilled water supply for the buildings and process cooling will not be affected during this shutdown.

This maintenance will help ensure that we provide reliable service to the campus community.

Cognos Maintenance on Saturday, June 16, 2018 6AM to 6PM

Purpose: Planned maintenance

Services Affected:

Cognos will be updated from version 11.0.7 to version 11.0.10, which will fix bugs and improve the stability of the platform.

Departmental Firewalls – Scheduled Maintenance on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from 7 - 7:30am

Purpose: Scheduled Maintenance

Services Affected:

The Facilities Management and WHCS (Bldg 5) firewalls will be rebooted to address a vulnerability in the remote VPN service. Users should not notice any loss in network connectivity. If you have any questions, please email security@uci.edu.

Qureshey Research Lab and Bonney Research Lab – Network Maintenance on Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 5 - 8am

Purpose: Planned maintenance

Services Affected:

The network team will be upgrading the routers in the following buildings:

1) Qureshey Research Lab (506)
2) Bonney Research Lab (512) - This building router also feeds Center for the Neurobiology of Learning & Memory Annex (516)

UCI Admissions Database Servers Scheduled Maintenance on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 630am - 630pm

Purpose: Scheduled Maintenance

Services Affected:

UCI Admissions Database Servers are scheduled to be cutover to a new server next Saturday (6/2/18) as part of a planned upgrade project. The Admissions IT team will be in collaboration with OIT’s DBA team and representatives from the EUS team to perform the cutovers starting at 6:3am Saturday morning. The upgrade process will require downtime for some applications internal to the admissions staff and will not impact student’s ability to access critical services.

The upgrade process is estimated to last approximately 12 hours with the potential of being online sooner depending on the speed of the processes involved.

There will be a reminder notice circulated to this group next week prior to the upgrade as a reminder.

Domain Name Server upgrade on Sunday, May 27, 2018, from 8am - 9am

Purpose: Scheduled Maintenance

Services Affected:

OIT will be upgrading one of our primary campus nameservers. The upgrade should take less than 5 minutes to complete. Since this is a redundant system we do not expect any disruption in service. It is important to make sure that any computers or devices you manage have at least two domain name servers configured to avoid disruptions in service. The campus name servers are 128.200.1.201 and 128.200.192.202

A planned maintenance window has been scheduled. Users who attempt to log in may receive a message that the system is undergoing maintenance.
