ACD Phone System (and OIT Help Desk Main Phone Line) scheduled maintenance on April 3, 2020 from 8 – 9pm

Purpose:

Services Affected:

We are performing routine maintenance on the ACD phone system. During the maintenance window, the OIT Help Desk phone number (949-824-2222) will be briefly unavailable while the server is rebooted.

OITDC – Adding Two New Firewalled Networks on April 8, 2020 from 1030 – 11am

Purpose:

Services Affected:

Minor configuration changes are being made to the data center router. We do not anticipate a service interruption.

Campus Border Changes to Support New VPN on April 1, 2020 from 7 – 8am

Purpose:

Services Affected:

Network Engineering will be making configuration changes to the campus border in order to accommodate new VPN functionality. We do not anticipate that the changes will be service impacting.

Upgrade OIT Github and Academic Github from current version to 2.20.3 on April 6, 2020 from 8 – 10pm

Purpose:

Services Affected:

A GitHub upgrade is scheduled to be performed on github.oit.uci.edu and github.uci.edu from 8:00PM to 10:00PM on 4/6. During this time, both github instances will be unavailable. The service interruption is expected to last about 120 minutes while the upgrade is completed.

Upgrade Mathematica License Manager on flexlm2.oit.uci.edu on April 1, 2020 from 4 – 5pm

Purpose:

Services Affected:

Users who connect to our campus license server (flexlm2.oit.uci.edu) to use the Network version of Mathematica will be unable to connect due to a license manager upgrade.

Upgrade Firmware of Siemens Panels on March 25, 2020 from 8 – 4pm

Purpose:

Services Affected:

On 3/25/20, members of the Facilities crew and Siemens technicians will be onsite at OITDC to perform an upgrade of the firmware on the Siemens control panels. The work should start around 8 AM and be finished by 4 PM. This work should be non-disruptive, but we will be monitoring the situation closely to ensure no problems arise.

Mae2.eng.uci.edu Scheduled Maintenance on March 25, 2020 from 7:30 – 8am

Purpose:

The server mae2.eng.uci.edu will have a short outage while it is rebooted for a kernel patch.

Webfiles.oit.uci.edu Scheduled Maintenance on March 25, 2020 from 7:30 – 8am

Purpose:

The Webfiles server will have a short outage while it is rebooted for kernel patches.

HiMAC Saw-Cutting on OITDC Shared Wall on March 19, 2020 from 8 – 4:30pm

Purpose:

Services Affected:

On 3/19/20, the HORIBA construction crew will be performing some saw-cutting on the wall shared with Lab C of OITDC.

Work will start around 8 AM and will likely continue throughout the day. This will employ the same type of non-disruptive cutting used previously and will encompass small areas, so we do not expect any damage to computing equipment.

Data Center techs will be monitoring the situation throughout the day however, and will use vibration sensors to ensure that the vibrations given off by the work do not become hazardous to equipment.
