Campus Telephone System Upgrade

Purpose: Scheduled maintenance

Services Affected:

OIT has scheduled a software upgrade of the servers used by the campus telephone system from Friday, November 22, 10pm until Saturday, November 23, 3:30 am.

Impact on existing telephone services, during the above maintenance window:

All phone, Voicemail and ACD (Call Center) services on campus will occasionally lose connectivity to the phone system.
PCs which are connected to the network via a phone will experience occasional loss of network connectivity.
Phones with active diversion will require re-enabling their diversion (call forwarding) function after the upgrade.
Example: If you have the phone forwarded to your cell phone, you have to manually forward the phone again after the upgrade.
Phones that have multiple Personal Profiles/Call Lists will default to Profile 1 after the upgrade.
Example: Personal Profiles/Call Lists specify how many seconds before ringing on another specified phone if no answer and finally go to voicemail. If you have more than one profile, Profile 1 will be active after the upgrade.

Non-Impacted Telephone services, during the above maintenance window:

911 calls to the UCIPD from outside lines, including cellular

Brief explanation of the maintenance sequence:

The campus telephone system will go down multiple times as the systems are upgraded and rebooted. OIT has coordinated the timing of these periods with high-impact units:

Central Plant and the UCI Police Department will be the first large areas recovered and should be complete within the first half hour.
Other locations will recover as we progress through our phone sites.

Please note that user-initiated call forwarding will be disabled by this upgrade. We maintain a list of persistent call forwarding for critical units and will reinitiate call forwarding for those critical units following the upgrade. If you would like us to re-initiate your call forwarding after the upgrade, please make a service request online and we will follow up with you prior to the upgrade.
