DCSLib Retirement

OIT plans to turn off our last remaining DCSlib servers on Monday, March 23, 2015. The servers dcslib2.nacs and dcslib4.nacs will be unracked and retired.

If you understand this statement, then you likely have 10+ years of service credit and have maintained UNIX servers at some point in your illustrious career.

DCSlib was a software repository for Sun Solaris, SGI IRIX, Digital Tru64 (DEC OSF/1), and Red Hat Linux systems that served the UCI campus *before* open-source software was nicely distributed with packages, back when you had to compile your own software, in the snow, uphill, with no shoes.

“The world hates change, yet it is the only thing that has brought progress.”

Sincerely,

-Francisco
