No field technician work in Residential Housing

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and to protect the health of our staff and residents, OIT will not dispatch field technicians to service network jacks in residential housing until further notice.

Most apartments in ResNet have multiple network jacks that can be found in each bedroom and in a common room. While field repairs are rare, in the event your network jack stops working, please use one of the other network jacks. Use the *bottom* jacks only as the top jacks won’t work. When connecting your router to a new jack, wait a minimum of 10 minutes as it can take that long to obtain an IP address.

In the extremely rare event that OIT determines that none of the network jacks work in your unit, we can discuss an alternate plan to provide you with internet access.
