What is Skype for Business?

Skype for Business (formerly Lync) is a multi-purpose application which connects to Microsoft Active Directory. You can use it for internet messaging, conferencing, and collaborating on documents.  Skype for Business can show who among your co-workers is currently available for conferencing or collaboration.

How do I get Skype for Business?

If you are in a School or the Library, talk to your CSC.  Departmental policy will determine when Skype for Business becomes available.

For clients of OIT Desktop Support ("managed systems"), call the OIT Help Desk to find out when your department is scheduled to be provided with Skype for Business.

For others, call OIT and request a license and instructions.

How do I set up Skype for Business?

If you are already participating in OIT Exchange Services, there is little to do other than log in ( and your Exchange password).

NOTE: When configuring the Skype for Business desktop client, make sure you enter your in *both* the email address field and the username field; otherwise, it'll fail. If you forgot your Office 365/Exchange password, you can reset it here.
