OIT Management Roles

Areas of Accountability

In 2014 we embarked on an effort to design a new structure, focusing first on the top level.  Goals of realignment include:

  • Ensuring the academic and student communities are well servedby aligning OIT academic and student support efforts.
  • Enhancing service delivery and ability to respond to evolving needs by aligning OIT support structures around key IT functions that are congruent with best practices at other universities and in the broader IT industry.
  • Improving organizational efficiency by reducing the number of teams involved in any particular end-to-end process or service delivery and clarifying and simplifying leadership roles.

These goals now become guidelines that inform our internal accountability structures as an organization. OIT continues to be to accountable for operation of enterprise systems and technical infrastructure supporting campus activities. However by realigning core technology domains under the new divisional leadership, OIT is better positioned to focus on strategic use of technology in support of campus objectives. The areas of accountability diagram shows the overlapping and distinct roles for each management level in the organization.
