Planning Inputs

The planned changes are not all-encompassing, but serve as a foundational starting point for future changes in an environment of continual improvement. The proposed new OIT divisions have their origins from the following sources:

  • ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library); key components of the planned structure are defined as core functions of IT service operations.
  • Research originating from Gartnerdetailing best practices in IT for aligning around service delivery and operational service management.
  • An outside consulting firm engaged by OIT to research common central IT constructs in a pre-defined peer group of similar universities.
  • Taking into account strategic plans, certain aspects of our service catalog will be more rapidly built out or retired.  Consideration for future growth vectors was accounted for.
  • Director’s retreats and management input throughout the last several months.
