Residential Network Services

NOTE: Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and to protect the health of our staff & residents, OIT will not dispatch field technicians to service network jacks in residential housing until further notice. All on-campus residences have multiple active network jacks that can be used to access the Internet. While the specific layout varies, based on community and building type, you will typically find at least one functional Ethernet jack in each bedroom and each living/common room. Field repairs are rare, but in the event your network jack stops working, please use one of the other available network jacks in your apartment or residence. Be sure to use the *bottom* jacks of each wallplate, as the others are not configured for network use. When connecting your device or router to a new jack, wait a minimum of 10 minutes as it may take some time to obtain an IP address. In the extremely rare event that OIT determines that none of the network jacks work in your unit, we can discuss an alternate plan to provide you with internet access. These will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank you for your understanding.
