UPDATE 0845. Campus Network service outage

Description:

UPDATE 0845. The power outage was due to an issue with the battery backup systems in CS1. For the time being, our Network Engineers have moved our critical network devices to building power temporarily, so many of our vital campus services are slowly coming back online.

Our engineers are partnering with the vendor to investigate and ultimately replace the backup systems. Once that’s done, OIT will schedule the cutover from building power to the backups. Thank you for your patience.

UPDATE 0830. Our IT Security team has implemented a workaround so the VPN and Duo services are up and running again.

UPDATE 0815. There is a confirmed power outage at one of our campus core network sites, Computer Science 1 (bldg 302). Many services are down, including Duo, the VPN, and portions of the campus network. Our Network Engineers are onsite and coordinating their efforts with Facilities Management to restore power & service. Thanks for your patience.

UPDATE 0800: The issue may be related to a power interruption in building Computer Science 1, one of our campus core network sites. Our admins are enroute to campus to investigate.

We are investigating reports of a campus DNS service degradation. DNS server 128.200.1.201 is not responding to queries which is resulting in latency or the inability to reach some services, such as ServiceNow, Zotportal etc.
