Duo Multi-factor Authentication

Quicklink(s)

Duo adds an extra layer of account security by requiring you to verify your identity through a second factor, such as a phone or token, in addition to your password.

Login Changes for Duo - October 2023

On October 19, 2023 the UCI Single Sign On (SSO) process is changing slightly. You will no longer need to select “send a push” after entering your UCInetID and password. It will automatically send a push to the last used device. The update should be seamless for most UCI faculty, staff and students, with no interruptions to services.

What is Duo?

Duo is a multi-factor authentication application. It adds a second layer of protection by requiring you to verify it’s you after you login with your UCInetID and password. You use something you know (your password) plus something you have (a smartphone or device). This extra layer of protection prevents anyone but you from logging into your account, even if they know your password.

Duo + UCInetIDs

Every account that uses your UCInetID will require Duo to verify it is you. All employees and students need to be enrolled in Duo and have it set it up when logging in to any system with your UCInetID and password.

UCI Duo supports a range of electronic devices including:
