CrashPlan Data Backup Now Available for Campus Researchers

Oct 11, 2023 | Home Page News, News

UCI is now offering CrashPlan data backup for all campus researchers free of charge.

CrashPlan is an application that protects your most important data without impacting your workflow. By running backups every 15 minutes, it helps protect you from data loss such as inadvertent deletion or overwrite. CrashPlan can also help recover your data if you are the victim of malware or ransomware.

Research data is one of our most valuable resources, and corrupted or lost data can potentially impact years of research effort.

We encourage all UCI researchers to sign up for a CrashPlan account and download this software onto laptops and desktops that contain research data. (Please note: Crashplan is not suitable for P4-level data). Eligible users include faculty, postdoctoral and graduate students and staff. Contact your School IT Helpdesk to activate your CrashPlan account. Support documentation and answers to frequently asked questions can be found on the Crashplan OIT page
