UCI’s agreement with Microsoft protects your data from being used in AI training.
- Microsoft does not use any content created by UCI faculty, staff, or students to train their AI models. This includes all data in Microsoft applications like Word, Excel, and OneDrive.
- Microsoft has explicitly stated that customer data from these applications is not used to train their large language models (LLMs).
- Your proprietary content remains secure and protected from unauthorized use in AI development.
- This agreement ensures the confidentiality and integrity of your data.

Campus faculty and staff can purchase a Microsoft Copilot subscription through OIT’s AntSoft website. Prices are prorated, depending on the time of year of the purchase and availability of licenses.
