Other Multi-Factor Authentication Options

Multi-Factor Authentication – sometimes called 2-step verification, strong- or two-factor authentication, or login approval – provides an extra layer of security beyond your username and password to protect against account hijacking. Many online services offer this free extra security protection to help ensure it’s actually you trying to access your account – not just someone who stole or guessed your password.

OIT offers 3 Multi-Factor Authentication choices. Learn about each by selecting the tabs below, and once you're ready you can access the services by selecting the links above.

OIT offers Duo to campus employees to safeguard access to servers, email, & web services. Employees can 'opt-in' to our Duo integrations with:

A software token must be installed in the Duo Mobile app on your phone, or you can request a hardware token. Administrators who would like to learn more about protecting a server they manage can complete the Duo Integration Request form.

Google offers its own 2-Step Verification for G Suite For Education/UCI Google Apps users, along with providing its own application called Google Authenticator, which is available from their respective app stores for iOS and Android.

Microsoft Authenticator (Law)

OIT offers the Microsoft Authenticator service (aka Azure Authenticator) for Law School staff & students who are required to use the UCI Office 365/Exchange email service while they are enrolled in a Law Clinic. It is a Law School requirement in order for students to securely access their mailboxes.
