As you plan for new opportunities ahead, we wanted to remind you that UCI’s Office of Information Technology continues to be a resource for you. You still have a range of privileges, access, and tools as a member of the UCI community, and we’re here to help you make use of them.

We have created a retiree page for you to answer any questions you may have and to offer solutions to technical issues that may come up. Please take a moment to review this page, and feel free to contact OIT for further assistance.

Retiree FAQ

1. I'm about to retire/have recently retired. Can I keep my UCI email?

Yes! There is a form on the Center for Emeriti & Retirees website that you must download and fill out. Instructions on the next steps are in the form.

2. What's my UCInetID?

Your UCInetID is the first part of your email address. It is not your ID number. For example, the UCInetID for Peter Anteater (if your email address is UCInetID would be panteate.

3. I forgot my UCInetID password.

If you're having trouble logging in to your UCI Gmail account, use this self-service tool to reset or change your UCI Gmail password.

4. Can I still use the VPN and access the Library's resources/journals from off-campus?

Yes. Retirees can continue to access the Library's resources from off-campus using the VPN. In addition, you are welcome to come on campus and use the wi-fi to access those resources from your personal computer or you may use the computers in the Library.

To use the wi-fi, you must first register the MAC address for your wireless device using our Express Registration tool. If you need assistance, OIT can help you with this request.

10. I have a UCI G Suite account. Can I keep it?

Yes! Even if you're not using UCI G Suite for email (maybe you're just using it for Google Drive, Google Docs, etc), you are welcome to keep it after you retire.

11. Will Retirees/Emeriti be able to keep Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus Software?

Unfortunately OIT does not offer Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus for retirees at this time. You can use Google Suite for free or check out Microsoft's website at to see what they have to offer in various pricing. Microsoft has a wealth of detailed information about these Office 365 plans to assist your needs.

Emeriti, the departments pay for the license. Therefore, you would need to request from your department to continue to use Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus.

12. I have tried the steps above, and I'm still having issues.

  • Your full name
  • Your UCInetID (the first part of your email address, not your ID number)
  • A detailed description of the issue
