MiCollab, New Software-based Telephone Service, Now Available

The Office of Information Technology is now offering a new software-based telephone service, MiCollab, for campus users. MiCollab is an application that allows individuals to make calls using their UCI office extension from their mobile device or computer.

The MiCollab mobile app provides the freedom to answer calls from anywhere using an iPhone or Android phone, and increases the chances of reaching campus colleagues because calls will come from a UCI extension. In addition, incoming calls can be answered by employees, even if they haven’t set up call-forwarding on their office phone.

Requesting an Account

Requesting a MiCollab account can be done through the Telephone Service Request form starting September 15. There is a monthly fee to use the MiCollab service, equivalent to the current monthly cost for most campus phones. Before submitting a request, departments and units will want to consider whether staff should use MiCollab as a replacement for their desk phone on campus, or to allow staff to add MiCollab for an additional cost.
