New UCI Directory Launched

On September 18, OIT deployed a new version of the UCI Directory. This change will merge the functionality of PSearch into the new UCI Directory, with help from the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences. Please note that once the implementation is completed, PSearch will begin redirecting users to the new UCI Directory.

This new version adopts the current look of our directory while utilizing features added by ICS’s implementation of their search engine.

Changes include:

  • Removing the “Advanced Search” section, since it is no longer needed – searches will span across all key fields.
  • Supporting “fuzzy” search – approximating results based on search criteria, instead of being strict
  • Providing results based on common synonyms and nicknames, or those specific to UCI
  • Displaying results immediately as you type (assuming your browser allows it)

Over the next several months, the Identity and Access Management team will be making several additional improvements to the UCI Directory, which will include a new updated look and feel, with easier navigation and real-time updates to a person’s entry.

We expect this transition to be seamless; no outage is expected. If you have any questions, please contact warrenwl@uci.edu.
