Kian Colestock

Kian Colestock is Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer at the University of California, Irvine and reports to the Vice Chancellor for Information, Technology and Data. He is responsible for providing strategic vision and operational leadership for the Office of Information Technology at UCI, as well as overseeing technology systems and solutions campuswide. The Office of Information Technology (OIT) supports the IT needs of UC Irvine faculty, students, and staff. Its mission is to provide information technology leadership, services, and innovative solutions to promote the research, education and community service goals of the University.

Kian previously served as associate chief information officer at UC Irvine and before that, as the director of Enterprise Business Systems and acting executive director within central campus IT at UC San Diego. Prior to joining higher education, he held a variety of IT management and consulting roles in diverse industries, including banking and investments at Northern Trust, manufacturing at Essex Group, Inc., and insurance/risk brokerage at AON Corp.

As a champion for IT efficiency and effectiveness, Kian feels strongly about IT’s role as a collaborative strategic partner and has focused on core continual improvement principles, developing OIT into a true enterprise-level IT service provider for the whole campus. He has also provided leadership on a variety of critical projects for the UC that have garnered multiple Sautter Awards for innovation in technology.

Kian received his B. A. from the University of Iowa and holds an M.B.A. in Information Systems Management & e-commerce from the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business at DePaul University in Chicago, IL. Kian is also a certified business architect and certified project management professional.
