Proofpoint is a cloud-based solution that provides professionally vetted and frequently updated threat intelligence feeds.

Benefits include:

• Improved spam filtering
• Improved attachment malware blocking
• Improved phishing protection
• URL Defense protection from links to malicious websites
• A self-managed spam quarantine and safe list

URL Defense helps protect against malicious links sent in email.

• Proofpoint will check links in incoming emails.
  If a link is determined to be malicious, access to it will be blocked with a warning page. The links will be routed through the address ‘https://urldefense.com’. This is part of Proofpoint.
• Internal UCI links will not use Proofpoint. 
  Links that point to *.uci.edu hosts are assumed to be safe and are not filtered for now.

Self-Service Spam Quarantine

Self-Service Spam Quarantine/Digest stops problematic spam from getting into your inbox and allows you to review flagged emails in a safer environment.

• Email will be categorized into 3 spam buckets
  • Malware/phishing – Completely blocked
  • Suspected spam – Temporarily blocked and stored in a Self-Service Spam Quarantine
  • Not suspected as spam – Delivered to your inbox. (It may still end up in your Junk/Spam folder.)
• Review Spam Quarantine
  • A daily email digest will be sent notifying you of any new entries that are being held.
  • You can log in directly to the Spam Quarantine portal at any time.
• Safe Senders and Blocked Senders Lists
  • You can add email addresses to either a Safe Senders or a Blocked Senders list. Safe email will go directly to your email and blocked email will stay quarantined in Proofpoint.
