As of 2023, Dell is UC’s preferred reseller of software licenses including Microsoft and Adobe.
Dell Software – UC’s Preferred Reseller
As of 2023, Dell is UC’s preferred reseller of licenses. Dell manages the following software agreements for the University of California:
- Microsoft – Enrollment for Education Solutions (EES) subscriptions are now managed under the UC-CASA agreement
- Adobe ETLA
After a months-long systemwide RFP in 2022 to select a new software VAR (value-added reseller), Dell was unanimously selected by the UC-SSG (Software and Services Group) and has been awarded the contract for 5 years. The SHI contract has ended and will not be renewed further.

Dell offers many other products as well. Please direct all licensing questions and requests for quotes to oit@uci.edu so we can advise you. For any non-Microsoft or non-Adobe license requests, we will partner you with our contacts at Dell.
UC-CASA
CASA stands for Campus And School Agreement and was chosen by the UC-SSG. If you are a faculty or staff member and would like more information, please partner with your Computing Support Coordinator (CSC).

A note about site licensing
Over the years, OIT has procured site licenses for certain software applications and services on behalf of other departments because:
- There was considerable interest from other units around campus.
- There was an agreement from a department to either assume most of the cost or come to some kind of cost-sharing agreement from OIT. However, due to current budget limitations, there are no plans for OIT to enter into any new licensing agreements with departments.
If a site license is not available, you may want to consider partnering with your department to see if they can enter into an agreement on your behalf. We recommend reaching out to your CSCs to see if a license is available internally or for help with obtaining one directly with Dell or with the software vendor directly.
