Campus Web Search Upgraded

April 27, 2021

As of Friday, April 23rd, the UCI.edu search application has been upgraded to Google Programmable Search. What does this mean for you? A better search experience on UCI websites, with results-driven by Google’s ubiquitous algorithm.

What’s different?

The new search results page will no longer contain UCI directory results. People will now need to intentionally select the People option to go to the directory. The default “enter” action will only display web results. Alternatively, you can navigate directly to the campus directory; we recommend bookmarking it in your browser for easier access.

We expect this change to significantly improve the campus community’s experience with UCI websites by making searches more accurate and concise.
